She studied Internal Medicine at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán. She specialized in Endocrinology at the same institute. Additionally, she obtained a Master's and a PhD in Medical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Currently, she is the Coordinator of the Obesity and Eating Disorders Clinic at the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán.
She also serves as the Lead Professor of the Advanced Specialization in Obesity Graduate Program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She is the Representative of Mexico on the Board of Directors at The Obesity Society.
