Dr. Georgina Gómez Salas is a professor and researcher in the Department of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine of the University of Costa Rica. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, a Master's degree in Biochemistry, another Master's degree in Nutrition, and a PhD in Sciences from the same university.
In recent years, she has focused her research on studying the Nutritional Status of the Costa Rican and Latin American populations. The results of her research have been published in nearly 100 scientific articles in high-impact journals.
In addition to this, Dr. Gómez has involved undergraduate and graduate students in her research, both in the Nutrition program and other related fields. To date, she has participated in 20 postgraduate theses and 19 Final Graduation Projects. Likewise, her research results have been shared with the scientific community and general public at multiple national and international congresses, forums, and webinars, and with government authorities.
Her research represents a very important contribution to the development of knowledge and the establishment of public health policies for Costa Rican society, which earned her the Clodomiro Picado Twight National Science Award in 2023.
